Important change effective 1 January 2025 — Certification validity period
Effective 1 January 2025, certification validity begins on the date document verification is completed. This ensures fairness and consistency across all certifications. Backdating certification validity is no longer permitted.
The expiry date continues to follow the original two-year cycle. This means late submissions will result in a shorter usable certification period. We strongly encourage you to proceed with your renewal as soon as possible.
- Original renewal period: 10 January 2026 → 9 January 2028
- Document verification completed: 20 March 2026
- Effective validity: 20 March 2026 → 9 January 2028
2 months of usable validity are lost. Submit your renewal early to avoid this.
Please also factor in your payment cycle — document review begins only after payment is received.
How the renewal process works
Submit your documents
Send your completed renewal application form and all required documents to your liaison officer or the Secretariat at greenlabel@sec.org.sg.
Receive and sign quotation
We will issue a quotation for SGD2,300 from your liason officer per product. Sign and return it to proceed to invoicing.
Receive invoice & make payment
An invoice is issued after the signed quotation is returned. Please factor in your payment cycle.
Document verification by the certification team
The certification team reviews your documents. If any clarification or additional documentation is required, they will contact you directly.
• If verification completes before your current expiry date — your new certificate starts the day after the original expiry date. No gap, full continuity.
• If verification completes after your current expiry date — your new certificate starts from the verification completion date, shortening your usable validity period.
Submit and pay early to ensure verification completes before your expiry date.
Certificate issued
Your renewed certificate is issued within 1 week of approval date. Validity runs from the date document verification is completed to the original expiry date.
What happens at each stage
- Original renewal period: 10 Jan 2026 → 9 Jan 2028
- Date of renewal approval: 20 Mar 2026
- Effective validity: 20 Mar 2026 → 9 Jan 2028
Revised criteria at renewal
If the product criteria for your category have been revised since your last certification, your product must meet the revised criteria at the point of renewal. The Secretariat will advise whether additional testing is required when you submit your renewal application.
