SGLS signs Mutual Recognition Agreement with Thailand Green Label Scheme

The Singapore Environment Council (SEC), administrator of the Singapore Green Labelling Scheme (SGLS), has signed a Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) with the Thailand Environment Institute (TEI), administrator of the Thailand Green Label Scheme (TGL).

This agreement marks a significant step in strengthening regional collaboration on ecolabelling and sustainable product standards. Both schemes formally recognise each other’s certification systems, enabling greater alignment in verification processes and enhancing the credibility of eco-labelled products across Singapore and Thailand.

Under the MRA, SEC and TEI will act as verification partners in their respective countries. This allows products certified under one scheme to be more efficiently assessed and recognised under the other, reducing duplication and facilitating smoother market access for environmentally preferable products.

As part of this collaboration, both parties have also established Common Criteria for Cement and Concrete Products, providing a shared framework for certification across both schemes.

The criteria cover key environmental and operational areas such as environmental compliance, air and water pollution control, waste management, and occupational health and safety systems. By aligning these requirements, the agreement offers greater clarity and consistency for manufacturers seeking certification in both markets.

Together, the MRA and the Common Criteria agreement strengthen cross-border recognition of eco-labelled products and support the adoption of more sustainable practices within the construction materials sector.
