This standard establishes criteria for the following types of paints and surface coatings: water-based coatings (including polymer emulsion paints), solvent-based coatings, epoxy coatings, powder coatings, PVC membrane coatings, Acrylic coatings and paints and recycled paint.
Key requirements
- Environmental, Quality & Operational Safety & Health management system in place (ISO 14001, 9001 & ISO 45001 or equivalent)
- Restricted substances non-detectable — formaldehyde, halogenated compounds etc.
- Heavy metals non-detectable — mercury, lead, cadmium, chromium
- Low VOC content within defined limits (limits vary by coating type and application)
