Heat Reflective Paints & Surface Coatings

New standard

This category establishes criteria for paints and surface coatings marketed or intended for thermal insulation, heat reflectivity, or "cool coating" applications on building exteriors, roofs, or façades. The criteria are designed to align with Singapore's updated building energy efficiency and sustainability regulations, supporting the reduction of urban heat island effects, lowering energy consumption for cooling, and promoting environmentally responsible construction practices.

Relevant Regulations and Standards:

  1. SS 678:2021 – Specification for Solar Reflective Water-Based Coatings: A Singapore Standard that specifies the quality and performance requirements for solar reflective water-based coatings on building facades, aiming to reduce solar heat absorption and improve energy efficiency.
  2. National Environment Agency (NEA) Initiatives: Programs and initiatives that encourage the adoption of sustainable building materials and practices to reduce environmental impact and improve public health.

Key requirements
