Scope of certification
This standard establishes criteria for espresso and coffee machines including fully automatic, hand-operated piston and capsule types. Machines with cup-warming systems and those requiring proprietary capsules from a single manufacturer are excluded.
Key requirements
- Environmental management system in place (ISO 14001 / ISO 45001 or equivalent)
- No carcinogens, mutagens or reproductive toxins; no heavy metals in food or water-contact materials
- No CFCs or ozone-depleting substances
- Energy consumption in standby and off modes within defined limits
