Accessibility Statement

The Singapore Environment Council (SEC) is committed to ensuring that the Singapore Green Labelling Scheme website is accessible to all users, including persons with disabilities. We strive to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standard.

Our Commitment

We want everyone who visits the SGLS website to be able to find the information they need, regardless of ability or the technology they use. We are actively working to improve the accessibility of this website and we welcome feedback from users who experience any difficulties.

What We Have Done

In designing and building this website, we have taken the following steps to support accessibility:

  • Colour contrast — all text and interactive elements meet or exceed the WCAG 2.1 AA minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1
  • Keyboard navigation — all interactive elements including navigation, buttons and forms are accessible by keyboard
  • Focus indicators — visible focus styles are provided for all interactive elements
  • Descriptive links — link text is descriptive and meaningful out of context
  • Alternative text — images have descriptive alternative text where meaningful, and decorative images are hidden from screen readers
  • Semantic HTML — proper heading structure, landmark regions and ARIA labels are used throughout
  • Responsive design — the website is usable on all screen sizes and devices
  • Touch targets — all interactive elements meet the minimum 44×44 pixel touch target size
  • Skip link — a “Skip to main content” link is provided for keyboard and screen reader users

Known Limitations

While we aim to meet WCAG 2.1 AA throughout, some areas of the website are still being improved:

  • PDF documents — some older PDF documents in the Resources section may not be fully accessible. We are working to provide accessible alternatives where possible.
  • Third-party content — some embedded content from third-party providers may not meet our accessibility standards. We have no control over third-party content.

  • JavaScript (progressive enhancement — core content is accessible without JavaScript)
